Megan + Colin’s Fall Tybee Island Wedding

Megan + Colin’s Fall Tybee Island Wedding

This Tybee Island wedding is one for the books. Being from Illinois, I have experienced real winters. It’s a rare day when I consider it to be truly cold in coastal Georgia. Megan and Colin’s wedding day was one of those truly cold days. The incredibly talented Danielle George Fine Art Photography team worked their magic. They were able translate the overcast gloomy day into a moody romantic vibe in these gorgeous wedding photos. Megan and her bridesmaids are the real MVP’s for looking completely flawless and joyful when they were undoubtedly freezing.

Megan and Colin’s Tybee Island wedding ceremony took place at Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church. Old Savannah Tours shuttled the wedding party to the lighthouse, the ceremony and to the reception in one of their adorable trollies. The gorgeous photos of the wedding party in front of the lighthouse gives a nod to the nautical feel of a Tybee Island wedding but also incorporates some notable history of Georgia.

Megan and Colin held their wedding reception at The Grandview at Hotel Tybee. This is the only venue on Tybee Island to offer a panoramic view of the beach and overlooking the ocean with floor to ceiling windows. Their guests lit up the dance floor listening to one of the best wedding bands I have ever seen perform.

Tybee Island Lighthouse Fun Facts

The Tybee Island Light Station has been guiding mariners safe entrance into the Savannah River for nearly 285 years. The Tybee Island Light Station is one of America’s most intact light station having all of its historic support buildings. It was constructed in 1736. Standing ninety feet tall, it was the tallest structure of its kind in America at that time. Unfortunately, storms took their toll on Tybee Island’s first day-mark (a lighthouse without a light.) and it had to be rebuild. In 1742, the second day-mark built on Tybee was completed. It was described by General Oglethorpe as “much the best building of that kind in America.”
